The High School Senior Countdown

high school seniors

Attention High School Seniors:

Sorry. There’s no time for senioritis! For most high school seniors, the next 6-9 months are packed with deadlines and decisions.

The following planner is typical for U.S. seniors applying for freshman admission to U.S. colleges. starting from January of your senior year. Specific application deadlines vary by college. Be sure to check the websites for each college you are applying to for exact deadlines.

September Through December

First, right after the Back-to-School rush is over, get everything you need for your applications together before Christmas Break!  Do it now! That January deadline will sneak up very quickly. Where do you want to apply? Have you researched their statistics and majors? Can you visit there before January? Get all of that information together first, create accounts for the application portals, such as the common application, and start filling everything in!

Meanwhile, while you’re doing that, make sure your parents know the FAFSA will be open on October 1, 2018 for students looking to head to college in the fall of 2018. They’ll be glad to get their part of the puzzle done in advance of your college application deadlines!
