As a Virginia-based company, Smart College Visit is a big fan of the Virginia summer “Private Colleges Tour Week.” First of all, these schools really roll out the red carpet, and secondly, you can apply to three of them for free this fall!
Each summer, Virginia’s private colleges come together to host a week of campus visit opportunities for college-bound juniors and seniors and their families. This year, the tour week is July 22-27, 2019.
Sessions are typically offered Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., and at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. You don’t need to register; they’re expecting you! This year, 23 colleges are participating in Virginia Private Colleges Tour week.
College Application Fee Waivers
Like we said, if you visit schools during this week, you’ll get some application waivers! Visit three colleges participating in Virginia’s Private College Tour week and you will receive three college application fee waivers. Not only that, you may use the application fee waivers at any college participating in Virginia Private College Week — not just the ones you visited. Hooray for saving money and getting a few more applications in!
Plan Your College Visits
It’s important to go to campus prepared. Take a list of questions with you and be sure to ask whatever is on your mind.
If you’re not sure what to ask, explore our Question Guides for examples ranging from student-to-student questions to questions parents should ask about financial aid.
Also, if you’re not from Virginia (hi Northerners!) we highly recommend a hat, some water, and some sunscreen. Don’t be outside in the heat for too long! Virginia summers are no joke. Likewise, anyone from south of here… you’re ok. You might even think some of the campuses, like Emory & Henry in the mountains, decidedly chilly in the evenings!
The following colleges will be participating this year:
Eastern Mennonite University
Emory & Henry College
Mary Baldwin College
Southern Virginia University
Sweet Briar College
University of Richmond
Virginia Union University
Virginia Wesleyan College
Washington and Lee University
