Most parents know that money speaks to teenagers and college-bound teenagers are especially keen on making money that they can use for school after high school graduation. One way to peak their interest and get them motivated to work on college scholarships is to do a little math and present scholarship work in this way:
“Winning a $1000 scholarship that you worked on for 2 hours is like making $500 an hour.”
Now you are speaking their language and will have their attention! Take it one step further and promise to help them in the scholarship process and I can just about guarantee they will decide to put in the work to apply for college scholarships.
