According to Kevin Ladd, vice president of Scholarships.com, when it comes to getting a scholarship, "It's always about the details."
His advice: Search Early. Search Often. Be Organized.
How early is early? Ladd recommends that scholarship search begin as early as the sophomore year.
How often? On-going and that includes summers!
When it comes to organization, details matter. Ladd says that many applicants don't follow basic directions or pay enough attention to deadlines. "It's important to learn to be efficient about applying for scholarships." Also, the odds are in your favor–the more scholarships you apply for, the more awards you are likely to get. "It's possible to get six or eight scholarships," according to Ladd.
